Jackson was born and raised in Kingstree, South Carolina. As a kid, when he wasn’t at school, helping on his parent’s farm, taking part in little league and the Boy Scouts; he was playing in the woods with his brothers and friends. Upon entering high school, he began wrestling (where he excelled) and then joined the football team (going to state his varsity year, defensive tackle). After graduation he enlisted in the army and served four years.
At 22, he attended college and four years later he had his bachelors degree in international affairs. While in college he worked a part-time job as a security guard and participated in intramural football. He also took up learning karate and boxing during that time.
Upon graduation at 26, he applied for a job with the CIA and began working his way up to becoming an agent. It took a little over a year, but he achieved his goal and was passionate about his career.
Proving himself in the field, Jax was approached for a one of a kind opportunity to advance his career. There was a promising experiment that could proportionately reduce the size of an object, a thing, or even a person to a fraction of their original size. The CIA was attempting to use and preferably perfect the technology before other nations. While not one to shy away from serving his country, even he initially refused the offer. He took a couple days to think it over, before returning to his boss and accept the offer – which was lucky for them, as none of the other candidates had agreed to it either until then.
It was a success! Mostly. There were a few complications. He did indeed shrink down to a mere one inch in height. But when they went to grow him back, the largest he got was a mere five inches – far from his natural height of 6’ 7”. Tests were performed, so many tests, and then they were repeated, several times. It was determined he could shift his size anywhere between one and five inches in height, but neither he on his own nor they could restore him. In addition, they found he became superhumanly more durable – especially given his new size. He also became more susceptible to temperature, especially the cold.
While not thrilled about it, he was given a partner and sent for a run in the field. It was a huge success. He was able to sneak in and out of locked doors, easily listen in on conversations, and other tasks that other agents couldn’t as easily accomplish. His family and friends have been left in the dark about the fate of Jax so far, as Jax and the CIA work out how to handle that situation…
